Due to an increase in the exchange rate of the US dollar, petrol prices in the country have been increased ahead of the New Year.

The government on Sunday announced an increase an price of petrol by Rs4.6, High Speed Diesel by Rs3.96, and Light Speed Diesel by Rs6.25.

The new price of Petrol is Rs81.53; High Speed Diesel Rs 89.91; and Light Speed Diesel Rs58.37.

Earlier this week, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had proposed an increase in petroleum product prices from January 01, 2018.

The regulatory body had forwarded the summary in this regard to ministry of petroleum which was approved by the ministry of finance after consultation with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

The price of oil has increased in the international market over the previous 20 days and the Pakistani rupee has also devalued against the dollar.
